These images from the past three days of my ‘photo a day’ project really tell the story of what is happening in my world right now. The joyful days of play, the step by step preparing for school, the ever growing bond between sisters. Every day they are growing closer & closer. They have moments where they scream because one has used the exact piece of leggo the other was just about to use…. & they have “no that’s my dolly!” & “she took my my wand!” moments all the time…. but they also have moments where they are bonded to one another in a way that can only happen after 2 years & 8 months of being together every single day. My days with them have been the investment of my life. A journey of gentle parenting & building family connections. When I walked into the room yesterday and found them connected, relaxing together after a big day, they were tired & Ava was stroking Anouk’s hair … I knew I was seeing the fruit of many days spent well. This week we bought Ava’s first pair of school shoes and that means the journey is about to change course a little. It will be a year of exciting new things. Anouk has another year until she is old enough to start pre-school, so she will be at the school gates with me every day to wave her sister off & pick her up again. There’s just two more weeks of the world we have known with slow mornings reading stories in their pyjamas after breakfast. In two weeks time the pace will quicken. We only have but a handful of days left without a time frame. So I will be enjoying what is left of our time free world. I am typing this as the sun is rising & they are still tucked in bed. There’s no hurry today & I love that. I will make a coffee & watch them rise. First Anouk requesting a glass of milk in her pink cup. Then Ava requesting water in her favourite mug. Then the day will unfold from there.
Precious moments gone all to quickly. Enjoy every moment 🙂
OHhhh Lisa, how gorgeous your girls are…I love the school holidays too when us mums get to enjoy time with our children without a schedule and busy routine. I love your comment, ” My days with them have been the investment of my life.” So profound and true! The richest reward is our children and their joy. Have a wonderful next two weeks with your precious daughters. xJess
Just lovely. Take comfort in the fact that you may still be able to relax in the mornings before school – the local public school starts really really late!
Love the way you treasure your little girls so much.
Yes that is true Michelle. We will have mornings & aftrenoons… and weekends 🙂
