Taking a picture of my children each day this month means that as I watch my day unfold, I am looking to find the very thing that day, that will write part of their story. The story of January 2012. I am not taking photo’s all day long & then choosing a picture at the end of the day. I am waiting & selecting the moment when I see it. So this morning I saw it. They were having the sweetest tea party in their bedroom. I took a photo and that was to be my photo of the day. Then two more moments passed by in the day that were so telling of them at this age, so I photographed those moments too. I put the camera down & I knew I would have to choose between the three pictures later.
At the end of the day, Anouk was bathed & in her pyjamas, Pete was home and cooking our dinner, I was tidying up puzzles & blocks. The heat of the day was being broken by a strong breeze outside. The girls raced outside to jump on the trampoline, shouting “mummy can you watch us? can you watch us?”. I stopped & I watched. They held hands, they twirled, they giggled, they ran, they jumped, they chased, they screamed, they fell & they squealed. So I took one more picture. At the end of the day this is the picture I chose. It’s not as pretty as the tea party one, but when I look at it I can hear that squealing & I can see their happiness & their friendship.
Ha this is such a great capture! It is too cold where we are to be jumping on the trampoline. I look forward to following your January Project too. 🙂
PS I love how you write a memory & than the date. I think I’m going to do this too. That way when I print the pictures I will have a little ‘refresher’ when I look at it years from now. 🙂
I hope my other comment went through. IT gave me an error message.
Love that you didn’t pick the “pretty” one. I’m finding myself doing the same. I can hear the giggles and squeals too!
