“Mum if I had a boss named Barry and I was writing him a letter, would I write, ‘Dear Boss’ or ‘Dear Barry’? ”
For the last week she has created an imaginary world where she works in an office for a boss named Barry.
Her name is Rose and she has worked tirelessly on office mail for her co-workers, Clancy, Saskia, Annie & Derrik.
My favourite moment was when she was pretending to be at home at night, writing a letter to her boss & I heard…
“Oh no! How am I going to get this letter on my boss’s desk before he starts work tomorrow?”
Me: “You could find out what time he starts & just make sure you arrive earlier than him”
Anouk: “OK!”
Me: “What does the letter say?”
Anouk: “It says that I’m going to be late for work”
Me: “Well if you get to work before your boss and put the letter on his desk, you will be early not late”.
Anouk: “Yes but after I put the letter on his desk I’ll be going back home to get ready for work and then I’ll be late”.
This photograph was of her writing that letter today;
‘Dear Barry, this week (starting today) I will be late.
Because well, there are four reasons.
1. I’m bringing my 25 kids to school.
2. I’m going to swim class.
3. I’m going home and catching the next taxi and train.
4. I’m getting ready and buying new earrings.
So I will be late OK! From Rose.’
I love that her imaginary grown up life includes having 25 children, catching taxi’s & shopping for earrings.
I also love that she’s taking a swim class when she’s supposed to be at work.
Poor Barry.
