We found out the gender of our baby back in February. I filmed the moment I revealed the gender to Pete, Ava and Anouk and I plan to share the video of that reveal with you all. Before we did that though, we thought it would be nice to let our close family members know in a more personal way than just via a video posted to social media. I told my 3 close girlfriends (who were my bridesmaids) in person too.
Ideally we wanted to gather both sides of our family together just once and share the news, but it was hard to find a weekend that suited everyone at once. In May my brother Jesse and his family, who live 9 hours away, were staying with us in Sydney for just one weekend, so we took the opportunity to gather my side of the family together and have a bbq dinner, and reveal the baby gender with a fun little balloon popping moment just before dessert. This month we gathered Pete’s side of the family (minus one sister in law and young nephew who wasn’t well on the day) for a Sunday lunch and did the same thing. We had fun with it and asked everyone to vote if they thought we were having a boy or a girl before we told them. These two 1 minute video’s share the gatherings and the family votes.
We are blessed to have so many wonderful family members who are celebrating our ‘baby on the way’ with us.
