Anouk lost her first baby tooth on her last day of Preschool in December.
It fell out into her hands ten minutes after we had said all our final goodbyes to her teachers & walked out of the gates for the last time.
It was as though it symbolised that now she would no longer be ‘really’ little.
Now she would grow up before my very eyes.
She wasn’t emotional about finishing Preschool… she was excited… she was beaming… but as she held her tiny tooth in her hand, she cried because of the sight of the blood.
We rummaged for tissues and reassured her that she was OK.
Then she embraced the excitement of a new smile & a visit from the tooth fairy.
As a baby tooth falls out & a bigger tooth grows in it’s place, so too we now swap sand pits & water play for class rooms and school uniforms.
