1st January 2012…
1st January 2011…
I love that with one picture I can see the things that have changed over a year & the things that have remained the same. Ava went from 4 to 5. Anouk went from 1.5 to 2.5. In that year I have seen Ava grow to the point where she is really ready to start school this year. She is reading & writing & independent & confident & creative. So far Summer hasn’t been a distinct ‘holiday time’ for us, because without school, our year isn’t broken up into ‘terms’ & ‘breaks’. This is our last January where it will be the same as the rest of our year. Once Ava begins school, we will have to rely on weekends & holidays to all be together as a family. It will be different. When Ava was born I said to myself that I would do anything to stay with her & help her grow until her first day of school. It seemed that her turning 5 was such a long time away. Suddenly here we are. These are our last weeks of being together everyday. I will be enjoying them with gratitude for what has been an amazing journey. I will be holding onto January. For this month I will be taking one photo every day & sharing them here.
Here is photo day 1
We were looking across Sydney harbour waiting for the fireworks to start. She said, “Dad my tooth feels funny”. Pete checked it & said to me “your daughter has her first wobbly tooth”. She was jumping up & down with excitement. She thinks it is just so special to have a wobbly tooth. She isn’t sure if she wants to eat apples because she’s torn between wanting it to fall out & keeping it for just a bit longer. I know just how she feels.
What a wonderful idea, the hardest part of this will be choosing the one special photo each day…
Um…utterly adorable photos Lisa of utterly adorable girls!
Happy New Year!
