wishing well

I took these pictures of Ava this afternoon. She has grown up a lot recently, but I can still see glimpses of  ‘littleness’  (and I love that).

Most parents have moments of wishing their little ones would just stay small, but really we know that our children’s lives are not ultimately about our wishes, but their own wishes.

I hope that she wishes… and she grows to not only wish, but to wish well. Not in a ‘wanting things she doesn’t have’ kind of way. But in a ‘heart felt dreaming beyond what she can see’ kind of way.

That to me is wishing well.
