The Summer holidays are over.
First day of grade 2 and grade 5.
Age 7 and 10.
The first day is always filled with such excitement about who their new teachers will be and which friends will be in their new classes.
Ava now prefers a single pony tail to the two plaits she wore for the first few years. She does the ponytail herself now too. She stopped wearing the dress option part way through grade 3 and opted for the skort and top.
Anouk still needs me to do her hair for her and she requested two pony tails with ribbons. She still likes to wear the dress.
So here we go. Another year of lunch boxes and friendships and play dates and learning and assemblies and sport and art and homework and holidays and many walks home where they tell me all about their days. It’s the walks home at the end of the day where some of my most precious memories are made.
